PNG is divided into 4 Regions.
About 4 to 6 provinces make up each region. The Highlands Region (38%) has the highest percentage of PNG's population, followed by Momase (28%) then Southern and Islands Regions as illustrated in Figure 1.
At the provincial level, Figure 2 clearly indicates that the SHP has the highest percentage (10.6) of people followed by Morobe (10.5). Each of the 5 Highlands provinces contribute at least 5 percent or more to the PNG population.
