The celebrations within the nation’s capital (Port Moresby) began with a march on Monday morning towards to the Sir John Guise Stadium where 20 Red Cross Members including Minister for welfare and Social Development Lady Carol Kidu, met with the interested public comprising of students to share message about HIV/AIDS and how to live with it. Those who commemorated the event had red ribbons pinned on their shirts – that was the colour widely know to represent the AIDS and is mostly won by the advocates against HIV/AIDS. Also present was Miss PNG Red Cross 2003 title-holder, Cynthia Asi and three other beautiful contestants; Mary Efi, Sibona Bogehenao and Christine Oa, all took time to share their message and also to show their commitment by continuing to support it’s cause. Organised by the PNG Red Cross Society the theme of the day was: Stop Stigma and Discrimination: You cannot get AIDS by ‘Being A Friend, Sharing A Meal and Shaking Hands.”
