Meet the Sibisibi cultural group

This week a member of the Sibisibi cultural group from the Oro province of Papua New Guinea paid a visit to our office at Talair village, Gordons and requested that we include their story and pictures on our website.

The group is called ‘Sibisibi Cultural Group’ which is predominantly made up of of children of Army soldiers and their parents who reside at the Taurama Army Barracks in the National Capital District.

The group members come from Oro province and they perform traditional singsing from the province during major cultural events in National Capital District – Port Moresby.

The group was duly registered with the National Cultural Commission on 19th June 2000 and is also affiliated with the Taurama Women’s Association since year 2001.

The group was formed to enable the young children to learn the various dance steps, songs, beats of the Kundu about of the culture and traditions of Oro and also to entertain the audience and having a good time.

The list of performances by the Group since registration on 19th June 2000 is outstanding.
The group has performed several times in the country and outside of the country.
