Notice to Bougainvilleans Living Outside Bougainville

Bougainville constitutional commission visits to centres outside Bougainville.

The Bougainville Constitutional Commission (BCC) has been established under the Bougainville Peace Agreement to consult the people of Bougainville about their views on a new Constitution for an autonomous Government for Bougainville.

The Chairman and a small team of BCC members will be visiting Rabaul, Madang, Lae and Port Moresby from Saturday 12 to Saturday 19 October.

The main purpose of the visits is to invite views and contributions from Bougainville living outside Bougainville.

A preliminary schedule of dates of the visits, and days, times and venues for meeting appear below. However, representatives of the Bougainville communities in and around the four centres should consult among themselves and then make proposals to the BCC team concerning the program. The 'contact' persons listed below for each of the four centres can assist in organising such consultations. For information about where the BCC team can be contacted, please phone Robert Tapi or Kaka Laparami at the Bougainville Administration office on 973 9981.
