Think you should be ok, just use your common sense while out. Remember that most crime in PNG is caused by stupidity (Eg the victim puts themselves in silly situation) or payback (they deserved it, you'll remember that)

I think there is a group that are planning a trip back to Lae sometime this year. You may want to hook up with them on facebook.

I haven't been back yet, but from all reports you may want to leave your Golden memories as they are. I went to madang at Christmas and it was just like Lae in the 70's when I left.
