Thumbs up City Pharmacy

City Pharmacy is the leading pharmaceutical company in Papua New Guinea in terms of turnover and the wide geographical spread of its 22 retail outlets.

Founded in 1986 by current directors Mahesh Patel and Alan Jarvis the company listed 6,761,000 shares in the Port Moresby Stock Exchange in February 2002 which are trading at over K2.50 per share.

Professional qualified Papua New Guineans occupy the senior level positions of Assistant Manager Warehouse & Distribution, Marketing Assistant and Computer Manager. The core business is the provision to Papua New Guineans of medicines, health care and beauty products; it is also a very large purchaser of products from other PNG suppliers. The company conducts substantial business with the Government and services hospitals, mining and petroleum projects, provincial governments and major institutions. It also has large-scale wholesale distribution activities throughout the country.

The City Pharmacy Team

City Pharmacy's commitment to expansion on this impressive base is demonstrated by its recent investment of approximately K1 million in information technology, relating to warehousing and distribution, enterprise resource planning and business process engineering.

The listing also gives the company more diverse opportunities to raise additional funding for future growth, including the provision of further information technology innovations relating to supply, warehousing, distribution and points of sale, which is necessary to continue the company's expansion of activities into all areas of Papua New Guinea.

Provision of health care is a community responsibility, but our company recognises that adequate health care cannot be provided across all regions of the nation without the facilities provided by competent public and private sectors working together. We regard this as public duty, which we are happy to perform.

City Pharmacy's overall business objective is to provide contemporary products with the wider choice to customers and to maintain a continuous process and practice improvement with transparency in action

So City Pharmacy is a retail pharmacy leader. But what about people situated in the remote parts of Papua New Guinea? How can City Pharmacy reach to them? The most convenient sollution would be the creation of an on line pharmacy. It would serve the interests of both parties.
