hi to susan

Sorry don't recall your name. Can you remember any of the classes you were in? I remember Edmund Pelgan though.
Does anyone remember any of the crafts we used to make and all the cultural activites we did.
What about the house teams/names I think I was in Puk Puk.
Does anyone know how we can get hold of past year books or class lists?

hi Melissa

Great to have got a reply so soon.
My memory for names is quite bad too.......
I remember i was in 6Y........Mrs Youngs class...
I think Mrs Mead taught the other class.
Just rem' Edmund coz his family were well known....and i've got a photo..
I remember the wonderful craft afternoons we had.....learning stuff like macrame` , leather work & copper beating.
I'll try & recall my other teachers...over time
My bro, was in LIHS, George Kurien, so some of the names & faces of my seniors, are very familiar to me...like the Pelgan bros, Inoka De Silva.
I used to go for ballet (for my sins) and we did a show...to a lot of saturday Night Fever tracks...those were the days..........

I am from India , tho' i live in England now.Don't think there were many Indians in Bulae then
I can remember Andrew Robertson aswel, who was in my year, whose Dad passed away.......i read a thread....(not sure if he'd rem' me.)
Also Cheree Thomas was with me in one or two classes......
Tho' she could not rem' me either..
I was in Kokomo (spelling?)........Blue i think
I will try & get some photos.
Bye for now

Hey Susan, this is Catharina Friedrich - I was just having a quick 'surf' through this forum & caught my name! I have to be honest & say that your name does ring a bell but I just cant get a picture of you in my mind. Lae seems so far away & such a long, long time ago, sigh, the good old days for me - before bills to pay, jobs to work, etc, etc. Just fun at the yacht club & lots of sun & swimming! Do you have anything to jog my memory - pictures or stories? I'd luv to catch up on old times - they are fading with age!

Hello Catherina

How amazing to get a reply from you .
I remember you as being tall with blonde hair....and a very lovely person..
I'm not just saying that coz of the reply i've got.
And you sat near me for awhile.
Remember you well........recall you had some stickers on your text books , that if you scratched .... had different scents.....like strawberries......... weird thing to remember , i know !!!.......
Also remember making fun of you calling you Fried Rice..My strange humour...
I know you signed my autograph book......which i still have..
Cant remember what you wrote though
i hope something would jog your memory.......
Were you in year 6 in 1981.......in Bulae.
My memory of Lae is so vivid.....as i have so many wonderful memories....ypur right i just miss those carefree days..
I'll try and get some photos when i'm back in India. I live in London now..am a Doctor (for my sins ). Are you in Australia ?
What do you do Catherina....are you married/with partner/ or kids?
Were you one of the Bulae babies..1981 ?
Hopefully i'll remember something to jog you memory?
Thanks for replying.
Bye for now.

Susan

Who remember this farewell song....

Its a long way from prep to sixth grade, its a long way to go
its a long way from prep to sixth grade & its the best years that I've known
good bye Mr Hooper, farewell to Tinkerbell
its a long, long way from prep to sixth grade so goodbye Bulae

It was sung to 'its a long way to Tipperary' tune , this was the song we sung at the end of year concert when we left to go to high school.
Damn if I can remember anything I learnt at primary but 20 years on I can still recall that song!!!!!

Great to know someone remembers me .
Cheree i remember you really well , as it was my first day in Bulae , and i sat near you .
Was only in New Guinea for 3 yrs , till 6th form , but have wonderful memories .

We lived near the Golf course , on Hibiscus avenue.

Didn't care much for letter writing in those days .

Anyway great to here from you .
Do you know about Karin Vollert & Jodie Zadow , and the Pelgans ( Edmund ) who was in our year ....what ever happened to them..

I will try to post some old photos from 6th form .
Your family have done a great job with this site ...

hi susan

good to hear from you again

i think the pelguns are still living in Lae last i heard from Nigel Seeto, i don't think you knew nigel as he went to coronation school
jodie zadow i heard of a lot of years ago but wouldn't have a clue.
i would love to hear from chrissie roberts the last i heard was that she was living in america i think
i remember nalin de silva

the only one that i have been in contact with is juanita shedlock, rachelle stevenson -i'm not sure if you know them both?

which part of london do you live in? i live on the gold coast

i am sure there are a lot of people around it would be just a matter of locating them all-it would be good to have some sort of reunion as the last one that i went to was about 12years ago or something like that it was up in brisbane we all stayed at the leonards hotel if i recall correctly

anyway bye for now

cheree
