There were only 3 Australian and 1 NZ family living at Igam at the time. I have many photos from my time there and even some aerial photos. We lived at number 34 (didnt use street names at the time) which was the second house up from the primary school.

Hey Andrew,

Our family, The Browns, lived at number 34 in the years, 1967 - late 69! Fond memories of that house.
BrownP is my brother Peter, and I'm Cheryl, my sisters name is Jeanette and little brother Warwick. I met my husband Jimmy Ross at the swimming pool. Jimmy was in Recce Flight, and his boss, last name of Walters, lived next door to us, first house from the Primary School.

Here's a map of Igam Barracks that you can zoom in on to see the houses..

Peter Brown

Hi Peter and Mick,

I remember both of you. Again it would be good to track down some photos. I was in Mick's sister's class at Igam Primary (Kerrie). And pretty sure I have some pictures of us at a sports carnival in Lae. Why do I remember this..because I stupidly ran in the 800 yards and ran stone motherless last. A great day!!

Regards
San

Igam Barracks House

Hi All,

Thought I would post a photo of our house in circa 1969 - pretty sure cos we have grown grass not kunai!

Any other photos appreciated. Seems they are like hen's teeth.

Hi San

I was in the same class as your sister Sian and I can remember Liong. When I first started at LHS they gave me Sian's Science notes to copy so I could catch up on the work.

Regards

Rod Blackwell

Hi Tim

I can remember you and you sister Penny. I can remember visiting your house at LIT campus. I used to grab a ride after school on the LIT bus and then later hitch hike back to town. I used to hang out with Dean Barker, and ... Cann ( first name escapes me). Simon Sandover was there in my last year. The Hastings lived out there too - Deborah and Cheryl.

Regards

Thanks Peter

As I look at your list of signatures list I can remember Steven Ottway for sure. and Harrington rings a bell, I thinking there was a Michael Harrington.

I certainly went out to Igam Barracks on quite a few occasions.

Igam and Lae

Hi Rod
Yes I remember you and I think your sister (Lynette?) as she was in my class. A very long time ago. I am sure Sian would remember you as well. Will let her know of this contact/forum

Do you have any Lae High pictures?

Regards
San
