true yah!!!

i honestly was NOT impressed with Hawaii when i visited...growing up in Rabaul Town...and being able to run around Sub Base and the likes spoiled me rotten. I think Hawaii is too commercialized...i KNOW it is. what PNG has, is pristine, untouched shores that really do make an individual feel like they are in paradise.

Actually not all of the islands are like that many people that go to Hawaii typically travel to the island of Oahu (Honolulu County), where Waikiki is located. Waikiki of course is very commercialized and caters to the international tourist over 2 million international visitors go there per year on average, so its a very busy place and has many hotels to accomomate all of the visitors, domestic visiors average over 5 million per year. The other islands are quite rural still with the exception of West Maui, also there are many beaches that are much wider and less crowded then what you'll find on Oahu, Waikiki and most of Oahu's beaches have gone thru a lot of erosion and a lot of the sand had dissapeared when Hurricane Iniki hit in 1992. Anyhow the reason why Honolulu-Waikiki is so commercialized is due to several reasons, for one its the center of government, tourism, trade, military, communications, etc for the entire State and it also plays an important role as being a hub for Asia - Pacific Rim relations & the U.S., its also an important educational & medical center for many of the U.S. Pacific Territories (American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands & Compact Free Association countries (Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia (Chuuk, Pohnpei, Yap, Kosrae) & Palau.

You may click on the links attached to my sig if you'd like to see more of Hawaii or Honolulu and if you have any questions just ask i know the islands very well.

Waimea Canyon

Ka'u Desert

Sorry but PNG maybe be beautiful in its own right but it has no where near as diverse a landscape as Hawaii and as many climate zones which Hawaii has 11 of the World's 13 climate zones, and its cities are clean especially when compare to Port Mooresby..........

You can ski or snowboard in the morning go swimming at a red, olive green, black, white, or grey sand beach in the afternoon & watch the sunset over a desert or a canyon or a beach or a deep lush valley in the evening and at night if you feel like dancing you can go to a modern city with all the amenities one could ever need and eat at a fine restaurant of nearly any cuisine you can think of. Now thats paradise IMO.
