7 aussies make it home in 6 days from Kokoda to Ower's Corner

Two sets of brothers and other aussie friends headed out last Sunday for an adventure of a lifetime. Their guide for the trek is Russell Eroro (Kokoda Trekking Ltd's) brother John Derek Eroro. They could not have wished for a better guide as John Derek is a veteran of over 260 treks. In the past John has worked as an independant for various trekking companies however, it has shown me that brothers even in PNG stick together. This trek is therefore unique in so much that it has two sets of brothers led by a brother who has joined Kokoda Trekking Ltd to show support due to the recent media hype with the Courier Mail and Post Courier over an incident at Hoi Village. All family members gathered round in Kokoda while Russell was in Port Moresby and it was decided that John Derek would trek for Kokoda Trekking Ltd on a full time basis. All trekkers in this group will be picked up today by Corporate Transport. We welcome on board our team John Derek and hope that he takes many more trekkers across the infamous Kokoda Trail. We now have two of the longest trekking kokoda guides looking after you the public. Russell has well over 150 treks to his credit and John Derek per above over 260 treks. Not only that, we help a Papua New Guinea run his own trekking company that operates out of Kokoda for the benefits of Kokoda and the wages go back to Kokoda. All our Papua New Guinean guides and porters are just so proud of this fact. In the past other porters and guides along this end of the trail have earnt wages from helping tourists, now its the boys of Kokoda itself who also benefit, not just a handful when the plane is full and trekking companies want a couple extras from Kokoda. We also are locally based and 'all food' is purchased in PNG, together with medical supplies and any other associated costs.
