Coming days after the loss of Borg creator Maurice Hurley and original Spock Leonard Nimoy, Star Trek fans are again mourning another loss of a notable Star Trek luminary.
This time it’s Harve Bennett.

Born on August 17 1930, Harve Bennett was executive producer/producer of Star Trek II-V.

Long before his foray into Star Trek, Bennett was executive producer of The Six Million Dollar Man & its spin-off The Bionic Woman.

His other work included The Powers of Matthew Star & Time Trax.

Bennett died on March 4 2015 at the age of 84.

Saw John Billingsley in the last two episodes of 90210 season 3.

Billingsley is an Enterprise alum and Enterprise is a prequel series to the original Star Trek and his appearance on 90210 is the opposite of Enterprise as 90210 is the sequel series to Beverly Hills 90210.

In Star Trek, Molly O’Brien (Rosalind Chao, TNG/DS9) and Hoshi Sato (Linda Park, Enterprise) are two characters who had nothing to do with each other.

In a stroke of casting their portrayers however got cast together in Castle 7.18 Hong Kong Hustle.
Their characters in the Castle episode weren’t exactly friends which makes one wonder how Molly and Hoshi would have gotten along with each other if they had lived in the same century in Star Trek.

Adam Nimoy plans to produce and direct For The Love of Spock, a documentary about his late father Leonard.

This project aims to celebrate Star Trek’s 50th anniversary next year 2016 and it will be narrated by Zachary Quinto, Leonard’s successor as Spock and original Captain Kirk, William Shatner will also be in the documentary.

Grace Lee Whitney has passed away.

Born on April 1 1930, Whitney played Yeoman Janice Rand in eight episodes of the original Star Trek.
She lasted for a short time on the series when she got fired. Various reasons have been cited for her dismissal including budget cuts and suffering from alcoholism, but she has rejected the latter for the reason for her dismissal.

She did however reprise the character again in Star Trek: The Motion Picture as a transporter operator and non-commissioned officer, then in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home where she was promoted to Chief Petty Officer.
She then appeared in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country where she was the communications officer on the USS Excelsior under the command of Captain Sulu.
She then made her last appearance as Rand in official Star Trek in the Voyager episode Flashback in which she appeared in flashback sequences (hence the episode’s name) on the Excelsior during the events of Star Trek VI.

Whitney also had a cameo in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock although the credits listed her as a red-haired “woman in cafeteria” and in her autobiography she maintained she wasn’t playing Rand in that movie.

After Flashback, she reprised Rand in Star Trek fan productions including New Voyages & Of Gods and Men.

Outside of Star Trek her work included the 1960s Batman series & Diagnosis Murder in the episode Alienated in which she was among many Star Trek alums who guested in that episode.

She died on May 1 2015 exactly a month after her 85th birthday.

The Waking The Dead season 8 closer Endgame guest starred DS9 alum Alexander Siddig. In DS9 he played Dr Julian Bashir. Here in this Waking the Dead story he plays another doctor that of a prison doctor that of Dr Doshan Mohammed.
Incidentally there is a Star Trek episode called Endgame but not from DS9 but that of the Voyager finale.
