Ela Beach Craft Market

Who organises this wonderful event?

Does this occur every month or weekend, etc? I'd like to plan my next trip to POM so that I can go shopping for PNG crafts at this market.

Cheers!

Hello there,

The market is on last Saturday of each month with the exception of December. I think the one next month is the last one until January when the Ela Beach Primary School re-opens.

I will however phone tomorrow and confirm this.

Much appreciated, Aussie!

By the way, I've been away from POM for over 6 years and I wanted to personally thank you for your excellent and much appreciated input to the POM Forum, to say the least.

I find myself eagerly going over photos of places in and around POM. It really has CHANGED! Thanks Aus, for "being my eyes".

I look forward to more developments.

Ela Beach Craft Market

Not diving today so went along to this market.

I am now the proud owner of several colourful bilum, christmas presents in the main, though I did snap up one one for my snorkel kit.

Also purchased Christmas cards, a water colour of a colourful warrior, and a sculpture made of recycled scrap metal ~ a couple of muscians, one beating his kundu and the other accompanying him on his pan pipes.

I guess if I lived here long time, I would have ended up with a laundry basket, tables and a whole lot more. There's definitely some good quality merchandise to be had.

Watched and listened to the dancers performances, another reason to come along, excellent! Slightly disappointed that they weren't selling copies of their music... so if you spot someone with a tape recorder next time, it'll probably be me.

(does anyone one know where I can buy a tape recorder?)

till next time
