Smile My Island Home?

I grew up as the son of a expatriat worker in PNG, we lived in Madang,Lae and Moresby and to this day when I hear the song "My Island Home" by Christina Anu, it brings tears to my eyes, can a country have such a profound affect on your soul, even as a youngster, YES.!!

Praising God and rejoicing to be Papua New Guinea!!!!!

when I die my ashes will be scattered in PNG.

Hi Wantoks, I think our childhood memories are the fondest memory we have of our life. It was simple, fun, with so much joy, friendships, experience and more. We can never be a kid any more. We've grown up and the world is now different to us. We now have responsibilities, get more serious about things and have less fun it seems.

Hey folks, I miss PNG so much, i haven't been back to Port Moresby since Dec'96 but I hope to go back there and visite my village in Milne Bay which i haven't been to since i was born. Some times I cry cause I just wonder 'what's it like now' and think about everything I experienced living there. That is where my heart and soul belongs. And i love that song "My Island Home" by Christina Anu. Proud to Papua New Guinean.

What you wrote Wantoks is so beautiful...I also miss PNG. I haven't been back home since 1992. " My Island Home" always sends a shiver & a lump in the throat.

Proud to be Papua New Guinea all the way. I miss the place like so much, for my 18th this yr my folks took me to get a tattoo of the Bird of Paradise tattooed on my sholder blade. While it hurt abit, it was well worth it. Hope to visit PNG sometime really soon.

PNG, my ailan home. Milne Bay meri.
Peace out!
