Post – Courier provides incentives for exhibitors

The Post – Courier, Papua New Guinea’s lading daily newspaper, is offering advertising prizes to the value of K5000 for the top exhibits at the PNG Coffee Festival & Trade Fair.

This should be strong incentive for companies, organisations and individuals to put up high quality booths and exhibits at the Raun Raun Theatre in Goroka, the venue of the May 2 and 3 event.

“We will offer sponsorship to the value of K5000 in advertising,” said Post – Courier Managing Director Bob Howarth.

Mr Howarth plans to himself attend the PNG Coffee Festival & Trade Fair.

The breakdown of advertising prizes provided by the Post – Courier is as follows: 1. Overall best exhibit – 1 x full-page advertising valued at K2300; 2. Second and third placed exhibits – 1 x half page advertising valued at K1150.

Companies and organisations taking part will also be given time to do a presentation about their activities and products.

With only two weeks to go, over 65 companies and organizations have been confirmed to participate, in by way of exhibits or sponsorship - with more expected to confirm their participation and sponsorship this week onwards.

Confirmed stallholders are: Save The Children Fund, Brian Bell, BSP Bank, ANZ Bank, Goroka International School, University of Goroka, Coffee Industry Corporation, Institute of Medical Research, National Agriculture Research Institute, Research and Conservation Foundation, Goroka Grammar School, Big Bean Coffee, Arabicas Coffee Roasters, Goroka Coffee Roasters, Metals Refining Operations, Goroka Travel Centre, Eastern Highlands Provincial Government, Support Services Contract Facility, Info – Link, Christian Radio Missionary Fellowship, Farmset, Bird of Paradise Hotel, Compu Serve, PNG Motors, Rotary Club, Wildlife Conservation Society, PNG Coffee Exports, National Film Institute, Goroka Technical & Business College, Mount Sion Centre For The Blind, Air Niugini Tours, Eastern Highlands Province Women’s

Push for School Excursions: Organiser, Norman Carver, has encouraged school students in and around Goroka to attend. “We have invited school excursions from all major schools in Goroka area,” he said. “ Any student involved in a formal school excursion will enter the gates free of charge. “We will also provide transport, as this is a problem for some schools. The response has been good with several schools already confirmed to attend with excursions to the event.”

Helicopter Joy Ride: Pacific Helicopters have also confirmed that they will be raffling a helicopter ride around Goroka town, with raffle tickets to sell at K2 each.

Art Exhibition: Another quality aspect of the Coffee Festival will be an art exhibition, which will run one week before and one week after the main event. The displays will be located in part at the Coffee Festival venue; with the full exhibition located at the JK McCarthy Museum.

Coffee Festival Ball:Tickets for this Gala evening are all but sold out three weeks before the event. Co-ordinator Keryn Hargreaves, has promised an exciting and fun filled evening. Formal attire, with a green and gold theme. Anyone without a ticket is advised to call immediately to avoid disappointment.
