Sarah Michelle Gellar makes a reference to a certain old show that she used to star in, in her current show The Crazy Ones:

One has to wonder whether the casting of Dean Cain and Kristy Swanson as husband and wife in Operation Cupcake may have been influence by someone who had seen and remembered the Buffy season 3 episode Helpless in which Buffy (even though the TV series Buffy was played by Sarah Michelle Gellar and not Kristy Swanson) had lost her powers. This led to Xander to bring up Lois and Clark as he talked about the time that the Dean Cain Superman behaved rather oddly in the presence of red Kryptonite. This line of thought ended when Buffy told the gang to get back to reality.
In a follow-up to this last week I saw in Sarah Michelle Gellar's current show The Crazy Ones 1.6 Hugging the Now had her character being reunited with an old crush and he was played by Dean Cain's former Lois and Clark co-star Michael Landes who was the first actor to play Jimmy Olsen in Lois and Clark.

So in Operation Cupcake it had Buffy being married to Superman and the aforementioned The Crazy Ones episode had Buffy having a thing for Jimmy Olsen!

Front Row Special on Buffy The Vampire Slayer:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03m7zmq

This BBC Radio 4 programme was broadcast marking the tenth anniversary of the end of Buffy in the UK and it looks on the impact that Buffy has left behind.
Includes interviews with Buffy creator Joss Whedon, Anthony Head (Giles) and well known fan Neil Gaiman.
A bit self-indulgent to be honest but interesting comments on how Buffy as a female character has had an impact on female characters in subsequent TV shows as well as comments on how fans fill the Buffy void.
Surprised that Neil Gaimanís Doctor Who episode The Doctorís Wife was brought up here in relationship to the writing of female character in comparison to Buffy.

In The Crazy Ones 1.13 Outbreak featuring Sarah Michelle Gellar she as Sydney mentioned the vampire cough, another reference to her Buffy past perhaps.

The Crazy Ones series/season finale The Lighthouse had the song A Thousand Years from the Twilight vampire saga being played in a scene with Sydney (Sarah Michelle Gellar). So this scene was a way of Buffy meeting Twilight!

Buffy gets a reference in Being Human (US) 4.4 Panic Womb when Kenny called Suzanna that for killing vampires.
Suzanna Isabelle has been played by Katharine Isabelle and she is an actor who had been acting for several years prior, during and after the Buffy TV series but never appeared in it.

Finished watching the TV movie The Circuit (2008) starring Michelle Trachtenberg as a race car driver.
Playinganother race car driver is Drew Fuller and he gets on with Michelle Trachtenberg. There is a casting curio here as Michelle Trachtenberg is a Buffy alum having played Dawn in Buffy while Fuller is a Charmed alum having played Chris in Charmed. What curious about this casting is that their respective former shows were seen as rivals in the supernatural genre having overlapped with each other for most of their tenure.
So The Circuit presented a cross-rivalry romance between Michelle Trachtenberg and Drew Fuller.

Wayne Static has passed away.

Born Wayne Richard Wells on November 4 1965, Static was the founder of the industrial metal band Static-X.
One of the songs that he wrote and sang for Static-X was Permanence and it was used for the Buffy season 6 opener Bargaining Part 1.

Other movies that used songs sang and written by him included Bride of Chucky, Universal Soldier: The Return (which coincidentally is a movie that I am currently watching), Valentne & Queen of the Damned.

Static died on November 1 2014, just three days before his 49th birthday.
