The Long Fuse:
Season 1, Episode 8.
Guest stars House alum Lisa Edelstein and the series title character of House has been said to be like the Sherlock Holmes of medical dramas and unsurprisingly the Sherlock Holmes in Sherlock and Elementary has been said to be like House and it was somewhat appropriate guest casting of Lisa Edelstein here in Elementary.
In House, Lisa Edelstein played Cuddy and Cuddy could be viewed to be like Irene Adler but unfortunately she doesn’t get to play Irene Adler with her Elementary guest stint, Sherlock earlier saying that Irene had died.
However the revelation of the Lisa Edelstein character in this Elementary episode with her past is quite akin to the character she had played in the first season of The West Wing.
Quite a good mystery to this case which began as delaying effect of a bomb that had been set some years earlier and a good mystery about the dead man in the wall although this plot device is something I have seen before.

Meanwhile Elementary has been renewed for a second season.

Saw Jonny Lee Miller on The View and as Elementary was talked about the question was asked about whether there would any romance between his Holmes and Joan Watson and was emphatic in saying that would not happen as the relationship between Holmes and Watson is sacred making the latter into a woman does not change that.

Risk Management:
Antepenultimate episode of season 1.
Quite an unusual situation of Sherlock having Moriarty as a client in which the latter asked the former to investigate the murder of a mechanic.
The episode title as well as about the management of risks but that of a risk management company the founder of which has become the subject of Sherlock's investigation.
It is a good mystery but the best part of the episode comes at the end with the appearance of Irene Adler (Natalie Dormer) setting the scene for the two-parter that ends the first season.
Risk Management being the scene setter episode to the two-parter that ends the season made me think of Doctor Who: Turn Left as it also performed that same function for the season that it was in.

The Woman:
Penultimate episode of season 1.
The episode title refers to Irene as it mixes flashbacks of Sherlock's history with her with the present day.
The flashbacks were interesting to look at but the shock came with the identity of Moriarty and I can only imagine what Arthur Conan Doyle would have thought about this revelation.

Heroine:
Season 1 finale.
Guest stars Arnold Vosloo.
Not bad incorporating the real-life dispute over the use of the name Macedonia in this episode.
Somewhat ingenious on how Sherlock got Irene/Moriarty arrested.

Meanwhile season 2 makes its world debut in the US on September 26.
