Music School in POM

Hi Everyone

I have been considering the idea of starting private music tuition in Port Moresby but am wondering just how feasible it would be. How many of you would be interested in, or have children that would love the idea of learning to read music, understand the theory behind, and learn to play an instrument?

I understand the schools over there don't offer a lot in the way of music education so perhaps a dedicated music school would have a reasonable market in Moresby...? From what I know there is not really anything like this set up in POM yet - but just because people and their children live in PNG, that doesn't mean they shouldn't get the chance to learn music.

If anyone is interested, please "register your interest" right here so I can get a bit of an idea just how many people would actually love to learn music. If you have any questions, ask them here in the public forum instead of PM, as others may have the same question.

Thanks everyone! Look forward to hearing your response...

David

David,

this is a good idea for the young generation to learn music so that they can become music professionals in the future.
Most of the musicans now are self-taught musicans and still I see that they lack some more in music.

Cool music school in pom.

gre** idea, but one thing to remember th** most famlies in Png can't afford to send their children to school let alone send their kids to music school. Png people love their music & they are self taught.
most unstrument they first learn would be the ukalele.
May be you should start of with by giving them some free lessons and talk to the parents about it wh**'s best for them.
Than work out how much you charge per lesson & so fort.

have a gre** day.

Hi David,

I am interested.

Would you be able to run a basic to advanced sound engineering course also?

hi jaybee - unfortunately i wont' be offering a class in sound engineering - it's definitely not my area of expertise.

however, i'm very happy to say that the music school will be going ahead! we hope to start as soon as october (term 4) - if not, then definitely next year. please pass the word around that people will very soon be able to get private music tuition in port moresby!!!

i will post more definitely about it in the coming weeks, incl what will be offered, pricing, location etc etc.
