Hi San

You are correct, Lynette is my sister. Send my regards to Sian. We have a lot of pictures of PNG but I am not so sure if we have any of Lae High. If we do they will be with my parents. So i will have a look when I ma back there way next year.

Regards

Hi

I was at Igam Bks year 4 and 5 in 1970 and 1971

People I remember include your brother Giok, John Klein, Simon Ottaway, Helen Harrinton and the youngest Waters girl who was referred to as water rat.

I was looking on google earth to see if I could locate the barracks and was unable to. I did a search and was led to this thread. One of the posts has a map.

I remember going to the creek with PI's and cutting balsa wood to carve. I think it was at the creek that Giok did the wrong thing and got into big trouble from your father.

This thread has sparked a few memories.

Hi Terry?

You have a great memory. The old creek was the best place on earth. Not only was it great adventure just going up and down it's length, it also connected to some wonderful jungle trails etc.

And not sure what you meant about Giok, as he got into trouble just about every day - so narrowing it down to one incident is pretty hard!

San

Tony not Terry

It was the incident that your father put him in the guardhouse at the front gate over.

Mind you I remember getting in big trouble off my mother for sneaking off into town with one of the other families after she told me not to go. Coped a hell of a walloping.

I see that this site has been going for quite a few years, when I first read it I saw the first page said 2002, and I thought that it may have been a wound up thread. Wonder how much longer it will go for.

Hi I'm Steven Mogan I went to Igam Barracks between 1972-74 great life back then. Families I remember are the Stirlings, the Ellis's, the Tilbrooks I think Mr darcy Tilbrook was the RSM, also remember Adam Fisher, geoff Beattie, Karen Bennett. So many memories of that place. Remember how they use to take the Army workboat and take all the families over the Salamua(not sure thats how it is spelt), there use to be a couple of house boats there too. Umm who else, oh remember Kirsty McQueen, the Pattisons.
Anyone else remember these folk.
