Haunted Part 3:
downloads.bbc.co.uk//tv/isite-static/doctorwho/stories/haunted-part-3.pdf

Final part of the story, presented for Day 24 of the Advent Calendar on the official BBC Doctor Who website.
Fascinating conclusion including a certain revelation that the Doctor tells Ross about.
Not bad explantion about the Ghost.
Ross sure got a ride in the TARDIS and a certain explosion is as the Doctor says every schoolboys' dream. Well certainly something I can appreciate due to my own experience as a schoolboy.

Included in The Ark In Space Special Edition DVD is the 70 minute TV movie version of The Ark In Space which the BBC showed in the 1970s sometime after the original broadcast of the serial.
As the TV movie ran at 70 minutes it cut down material from the total running time of the serial of more than 20 minutes.
Remarkably what got left out of this edit included the Doctor and Harry first discovering Sarah was missing due to the transmat, Noah's initial reaction to Harry, Noah shooting the Doctor and the High Minister's message.
With these scenes missing from the TV movie version it certainly presented the story at a different angle.

Recently saw the movie Happy Accidents (2000) and it had an unlikely Doctor Who reference when a man (Vincent D'Onofrio) who claims to be a time traveller mention the rules of time travel by a scientist called Blinovitch.
This is undoubtedly a reference to the Blinovitch Limitation Effect which originated in Doctor Who.
For a movie that got released in 2000, the unlikely Doctor Who reference was made at a time when Doctor Who was not on most people's radar.

The main female cast member of Happy Accidents is Marisa Tomei and while I would not describe her character as something like a Doctor Who companion due to the film's premise, it is coincidental that having seen Happy Accidents quite recently that Marisa Tomei's latest movie is The Big Short which also featured someone who had been a Doctor Who companion that of Karen Gillan.

The coincidence in my viewing of Happy Accidents is further emphasised by the fact that I first found out the reference to Blinovitch in this movie several years ago but did not get the chance to see this movie until quite recently not long before The Big Short featuring Marisa Tomei and Karen Gillan gets released here in Australia on January 14 2016.

The Husbands of River Song:
2015 Christmas Special.
After so many appearances as River, Alex Kingston finally has her name in the title sequence.

Among the guest stars is Little Britain's Matt Lucas. Both Lucas and Peter Capaldi had been in the Paddington movie in 2014.

In fact just last month on the night before Face The Raven, Capaldi had appeared with Lucas' Little Britain partner David Walliams (himself a Doctor Who guest star) in The Graham Norton Show.

The Twelfth Doctor gets to see River for the first time due to Nardole mistaken him to be the Surgeon and it took me a second viewing to notice that the real surgeon had briefly turned up not knowing what he was about to miss.

As it was mentioned by Flemming upon looking at her diary, this takes place for River shortly after The Angels Take Manhattan when she lost her parents.

River does not recognise the Doctor in his current form and so funny the Doctor trying to tell River who he is but she still wasn't getting it.
With River expecting the Doctor not knowing that 12 is him it was funny that she gave him the code name of Damsel.
River had tasked Ramone in keeping an eye out for the Doctor by proving him with pictures of all the Doctor's past selves. However for some reason the picture of Paul McGann as the Eighth Doctor was not all that visible. One has to pause to have a proper look at him.

Still not knowing the Doctor is the Doctor, River takes him inside in the TARDIS and the Doctor was so unconvincing in faking his reaction to the TARDIS interior.

Quite spooky when Scratch says that the restaurant on the Harmony and Redemption was not a public place with the revelation that it was full of his people. This rather akin to a similar scene at Mancini's in Deep Breath also written by showrunner Steven Moffat.

Upon meeting Scratch, River tells him to show him the money. "Show me the money" is the infamous line said by the Cuba Gooding Jr character in Jerry Maguire. In fact it is almost a decade since Gooding himself got referenced by Jackie in Rise of the Cybermen in 2006.

Also in 2006 is Tooth and Claw which had a diamond being a key plot point and another diamond is the key plot point for The Husbands of River Song.

Quite heartwarming when River finally realises the Doctor is the Doctor after ranting about how he does whatever he likes and no way that he would be anywhere near her.

Good resolution which sees the Doctor and River getting away from the exploding restaurant and leading to their date at the Darillium.

Lovely scene at the Darillium especially at the Singing Towers.

The Doctor and River talked about the meaning of happily ever after and that bought to mind the movie Not Another Happy Ending the first post-Doctor Who work by Alex Kingston's Doctor Who mother and my wife Karen Gillan.

As this could be their last time together the Doctor tells River that a night in Darillium lasts for 24 years making it a very long date. Sadly as Capaldi himself had said as Caecilius in The Fires of Pompeii, even the longest night has to come to an end.

Surprising seeing the caption at the end of "And they both lived happily ever after".

Doctor In A Bottle:
Doctor In A Bottle is a comic strip story published in Doctor Who Adventures.

Written by Jason Quinn.

This story has the TARDIS including the Doctor in her literally in a bottle thanks to a fire-like creature the Djinx.

Very good that it is left to Clara to save the Doctor and defeat the Djinx.

Very good when the Doctor by text to fight fire with fire but not the kind of fire one would immediately think about.

The Twin Dilemma:
In the DVD info text for Part 4 of The Twin Dilemma it noted the name of the extras here which included Les Conrad the real-life father of the titular twin actors.
Although she did not refer to him by name Nicola Bryant (Peri) had mentioned him as the twins' father in the Caves of Androzani story as he was also an extra in that.
Nicola Bryant also took part in The Twin Dilemma commentary but made no mention of Les Conrad at all despite his sons being the focus of this story!
