Talking Break Up Songs

I found this write-up interesting....See if any of you agree with the selection or disagree..
What would your personel choices be?????

Quite a longy.so BEWARE!!!!!.....Plagierised@ audiogalaxy....lol

"Ms. Jackson" - Outkast

In addition to being funkier than a pair of spandex shorts after being worn by Bootsy Collins to his Pilates class, Outkast's hit song examines a relationship we've never (ever, ever) heard discussed before in Hip Hop.

"Dead Flowers" - Rolling Stones

Inspired by grievous angel Gram Parsons - this bitter, countrified, smackdown is one of the Stones best tunes. Who among us doesn't know a self-proclaimed "Queen (or King) of the Underground" you'd like to send this one out to?

"Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien" - Edith Piaf

No, Edith regrets nothing, and neither do we. The title of this world-famous chanteuse's classic says it all.

"I Used to Love H.E.R." - Common

Common's extended metaphor of Hip Hop as a beautiful but troubled woman is complex, clever and surprisingly affecting.

"Cocaine Blues" - Johnny Cash

This drug-fueled murder ballad - the ultimate in jealous-rage revenge fantasy - is vicious enough to make MC Ren look like a wimp.

"Break Up To Make Up" - The Stylistics

In the battle for Quiet Storm supremacy, this Philly Soul gem won out in a heated race with Lionel Richie's "Easy Like Sunday Morning."

"Bad Liver and a Broken Heart (in Lowell)" - Tom Waits

Like Tom, we don't have a drinking problem... except when we can't get a drink.

"I Will Survive" - Gloria Gaynor

Despite its habitual abuse by drunken sorority-types at Karaoke bars everywhere, this is still the ultimate girl-power disco anthem.

"So Lonesome I Could Cry" - Hank Williams

Even an MTV kid (and aspiring prop-comic) like little Bobby Hill knows to turn to Hank Sr. when the heartbreak becomes too much to bear.

"Je Suis Venu Te Dire Que Je M'en Vais" - Serge Gainsbourg

The ultimate creepy French guy is one of only two artists to make both this and the "Let's Get it On!" list!

"Go West" - Liz Phair

It was either this or Husker Du's "You Left Me Standing in the Rain." Cute, feisty, indie-rock chick vs. frumpy, depressed, post-punk bald guy: you make the call.

"Baby Bitch" - Ween

Honorable mention must go to other Ween break-up classics like "Birthday Boy," "It's Gonna Be (Alright)," "You ****ed Up" and the always apropos "Piss Up a Rope."

"Don't Think Twice, It's Alright" - Bob Dylan

Bob is the undisputed master of dissing his exes in musical form. He's gotten vicious in classic style on dozens of songs like "It Ain't Me Babe," "Idiot Wind" and "Positively 4th Street." (The last with it's immortal line: I wish that for just one time you could stand inside my shoes, you'd know what a drag it is to see you.) This one is is the champ though. It doesn't get much more bitter and cold-hearted than: I ain't sayin' you treated me unkind, you could have done better, but I don't mind. You just kindof wasted my precious time...

-Robert Whiteman

What? No "Heartbreak Hotel?" What about "Yesterday" or "Song For the Dumped"? What did we leave out? Is she over at his place right now? Spill your hearts below:

Yeah- that's a good one...

i like Whitney Houston's "I will always love you"....

It wouldn't apply to BAD breakups though!

good selection peeps',

"HOw can I just let you walk away , let you leave without a trace?"/..
aaaah, Phil Collins is one lyrical master....

I will always love you.......could easily be the ultimate love song...
When you just won't hate them .no matter how thrashy they treated you in the relationship...

I will survive..lol@drunken sorrority types singing it @ kareoke....I can just picture it..I've seen a few in action.have you done it Wantoks?? I know Philipinos are kareoke crazy........included?

How 'bout "UNBREAK MY HEART".Toni.

Unbreak my heart, say you'll love me again...Unbreak this pain you caused when you walked out of my life....
"twas ex b/f and me's song...he sorta worked it into a poem he wrote me while we were together....about how he'd hurt if we split..
.I didn't recognise its poigniancy till we did split...

Phil Collins

Without a doubt , break up songs should break you down level by levell until you cry.

Against all odds is my kinda song and probably phil collins :

"Do you remember"

We never talked about it ,
But it seems the blame was mine,
so I called you up to say I'm sorry,
and I wouldn't wanna waste your time,
cause I love you and I can't take anymore,
there's a look I can't describe in your eyes,
If we could try what we tried before,
would you keep on tellin me those lies,
Do you remember,
Do you remeeeemmmberrr..

Phil collins somehow always knows what's ripping you apart inside.

Well doods what do you's think?

Do What You Have To Do.....

..... and I have the sense to recognize that
I don't know how to let you go
every moment marked
with apparitions of your soul
I'm ever swiftly moving
trying to escape this desire
the yearning to be near you

.....a glowing ember
burning hot
burning slow
deep within I'm shaken by the violence
of existing for only you

..... I know I can't be with you
I do what I have to do

unrequited love????

If you ever had to break up with someone you really loved , this would be a great song to play that last night...Ask 'em to hold you that one last time....even if it hurt you to do so....I luv it..gets me all gooey....

Rednex
Hold Me For A While

Hold, hold me for a while
I know this won't last forever
So hold, hold me tonight
Before the morning takes you away

Hold, hold me for a while....

What's that sparkle in your eyes?
Is it tears that I see?
Oh tomorrow you are gone
So tomorrow I'm alone
Short moments of time
We have left to share our love

Hold, hold me for a while
I know this won't last forever
So hold, hold me tonight
Before the morning takes you away

We're in eachothers arms
Soon we're miles apart
Can you imagine how I'll miss,
Your touch and your kiss?
Short moments of time
We have left to share our love

Hold, hold me for a while....

Hold, hold me now,
From dusk to dawn all night long
Save, save me now,
A short moment of time
