Hello there,

May I suggest that you contact Paul the vet direct and tell him I sent you....Paul is a regular visitor to our pngbd website when he logged on in Poland searching for information on PNG.

His contact details are as follows:

Dr. Pawel (Paul) Kita
RSPCA
WAIGANI.

Fax [675] 3256833

E-mail: rspca@global.net.pg

I do have a strong feeling that Lapunman maybe right. Its not getting them into the country but getting them out. I have heard that they have reduced the time in quarantine and recently heard of a dog that was sent home to New Zealand and it appears she is doing quite well.

Before it used to be something like 9 months that they would be locked up and a lot of dogs would miss their owners....anyway goodluck with your email to our Port Moresby vet.

Dr Pawel Kita is pictured below whilst out checking on guard dogs at the Kutubu Oil Fields in PNG.

Hello again,

Paul has replied by email to me as follows:

I know they have 2 days quarantine and that is all. More details he can get contacting NAQIA - Dr. Ilagi Puana tel. 3112100. He must realize that coming back to Australia or NZ quarantine is two months.

Email just received from Yvonne,

He can bring his dogs with no problems -- they must have current
innoculations, a health certificate etc. There is very little quarantine
around 96 hours. He should contact the NAQIA vet at Kila Kila - Dr Isagani or Dr Puana for a WRITTEN set of instructions - tel 3259977 - I don't know if they have email.

Good Luck
