Krangket Island Resort

Have you wished to stay on a remote tropical island in paradise? This is your chance. The Krangket Island Lodge offers totally uncommercialised self-contained accommodation in what must be described as the most beautiful setting in the Pacific, featuring traditionally styled lodges with all the creature comforts of home!

Krangket Island is situated in the Madang Harbour just 5 minutes by speedboat from the centre of the township. The Lodges are sited on a peninsula overlooking the volcanic island of Karkar and on the other side, the crystal clear waters of the Krangket Lagoon, ideal for swimming, snorkelling or simply relaxing. All Lodges have private white sand beaches. There is a natural tropical rain forest adjacent to the Lodges with bush tracks leading to more isolated beaches.

Each Lodge has comfortable bedding for up to 4 guests a private bathroom with septic toilet system, hot and cold water, a kitchenette equipped with large refrigerator, gas stove, all cooking equipment, plates and cuttlery, all you need to bring is your food! The large screened verandah has a lounge setting and there are additional garden chairs for relaxing in the grounds, plus a BBQ which can be fired by the staff. The Dum Clan who own the Lodges can obtain fresh fish and crayfish and your food order can be placed at the time reservations are made. All provisions will be ready on your arrival.

Other activities include diving, windsurfing, snorkelling, catamarans, boating, fishing and tours to nearbyvillages in the Madang Province.

The Krangket Island Lodge project was sponsored by the Madang Visitors Bureau and the Madang Resort Hotel for the Dum Clan, the traditional owners of the land. Apart from the Lodges, there is dormitory accommodation available, a large, well-kept reserve for picnics, a wharf and excellent swimming available in Krangket Lagoon. The Madang Visitors Bureau will shortly sponsor similar lodges in the Madang Province.

Hi Roy,

We visited my Uncle who is staying at Krangket Island and we stayed at the lodge, it is so beautiful, peaceful and paradise. Thanks to Kerry and Thomas and the family who helped us and we had a great holiday on Krangket Island and met up with Des & Sima and the family and Mum and Nem also and all the other beautiful Krangket Islanders. Bless them all they are so beautiful in every way. This is one of the best holidays I have been on and will definately be going back.

My family stayed at Krangket Island in Sept, 2010 and had a fantastic time on such a beautiful gorgeous island with gorgeous views, friendly people, and The Dum Clan were wonderful. I would recommend a holiday here if you want peace and quiet and to just relax and enjoy the beauty, fishing, snorkelling, scenery, local living, and discover the island, this is a mini paradise and will be going back again.

I never visited and stayed there but my friend have been explored and stayed there last year in December on his vacation. He was saying after coming back Madang is a town in Papua New Guinea. It is very alluring and charming Island. I will go there on my coming up vacations. I am sure will spend great time there.

Kai, I visited this Island last month with my friends. It is a truly wonderful place for enjoyment. Krangket Island, across Dallman Passage from Madang. It is a large island with several villages and a beautiful lagoon ideal for swimming and snorkelling. I will suggest you should go there once in life.
