cheap flight from Port Moresby to Madang

Hi there,
I am Australian and spent a wonderful year as a child living in Madang. My family (mum, brother, husband and kids) of 4 adults and 3 children would like to visit our papua new guinea friends in Madang- it is a dream of my mothers. We would like to travel in June - July. we have worked out cheap accommodation at the Lutheran guest house. The trouble is the the cost of the flights - the cheapest we have found is $1500 from Bris to Madang for an adult and $1141.00 for the kids with air niugini. My mum is a widower and my brother is a single dad - at these prices I am not sure if we can go. I checked out Airlines png and they had a cheaper flight from Cairns to POM - but no flight to Madang. I know you can get cheap flights to madang if you wait until you get to Pom - but I know these can be booked out and with the number of us travelling it would be easy for us to miss out. We don't want to risk trying to get cheap flights - miss out - then have to pay for accommodation for the night. Does anyone know of a cheaper option? We are getting desperate.
thanks

Really only Air Niugini and Air Link flying to Madang from Moresby. There may be other options but you'd have to be real lucky. You caould take a APNG DAsh 8 from CNS - POM than an Air Link plane from POM to MAG, would be cheaper than Air Niugini but not as convinient or comfortable.

Have you checked Air Links prices/schedules http://www.airlink.com.pg/files/Airlink%20Timetable.pdf
http://www.airlink.com.pg/files/Airl...re%20Grids.pdf

Remember this website has an interactive flight schedule at
http://www.pngbd.com/travel/flights.php

Another option would be to take the ship "Sea Lark" from POM to Lae then fly or PMV it to Madang. Not necessarily an option the whole family would be in to, but adventurous and cheap thats for sure.

Regards
Angra

Hi Angra,
How much roughly would it be to go by ship and how long would the journey be? Yes sea travel sounds adventurous
