Live Another Day

Day 9: 3pm-4pm:
Episode 5.
Finally noticed Miranda Raison here. In contrast to her being an operative in Spooks, it looks like here in 24, she is the aide to the Prime Minister. Her role in 24 is basically a desk job compared to field work she did in Spooks.
Quite an awkward and emotional reunion between Jack and Audrey.
Visually impressive when the drones destroyed the house that was set as a trap for the CIA.
Naveed’s fate was definitely sealed when Ian knew how to control the drones and when Simone did not speak up for him.

Live Another Day

Day 9: 4PM-5PM:
Episode 6.
The Miranda Raison character calls MI5 and MI5 was Miranda Raison’s former place of employment in Spooks.
Quite tense the torture that Kate had to go through as part of the cover with Jack.
Oh my what a surprise at the end that Navarro turns out to be a traitor and it was he who framed Kate’s husband of being a traitor.

Live Another Day

Day 9: 5PM-6PM:
Episode 7.
Guest stars Shelley Conn.
Absolutely thrilling hour with the sequences in the hospital and then the drones chasing Jack, Kate and Simone.
Jordan sure got a nasty surprise at the dead-drop but luckily he survived.
Quite bizarre seeing President Heller and Margot having a one on one communication without no one else about.

Live Another Day

Day 9: 6PM-7PM:
Episode 8.
Bizarre seeing Jack and Mark cooperating with each other for delivering President Heller, of his own volition, to his death.
Sad that efforts to save President Heller could not be done on time as he got hit by the drone.

Live Another Day

Day 9: 7PM-8PM:
Episode 9.
Oh my what a trick in which President Heller turns out to be still alive.
Margot and Jack finally meet and it was a brief meeting as Jack kills her. Quite a pity that she is gone this soon as she was a very good villain played very well by the very attractive Michelle Fairley.
On what should have been a lovely phone call between Jack and Audrey unfortunately got interrupted by Jack getting information of who that dead assassin was.
Very good chase between Navarro and Jack and interesting to see where the last three episodes of Live Another Day will lead to now that Margot is dead.

Live Another Day

Day 9: 8PM-9PM:
Antepenultimate episode.
Navarro gets caught and quite amusing to see him and Jack being back in the interrogation room but each on opposite sides to when they were last in there.
Quite a trick to get Navarro to reveal how to track down the override.
Quite a shock when Cross and Chloe seeing their fellow Open Cell members dead as Jack’s old foe Cheng Zhi makes his return.
However a reunion between Cheng and Jack would have to wait as Jack and Kate have to deal with some Russians thanks to Mark letting the Russians know how to find Jack.

Live Another Day

Day 9: 9PM-10PM:
Penultimate episode.
Somewhat disappointing that Cheng already knew of Jack’s presence in this situation but a surprise he has been working with the Russians.
Somehow I should not surprise that Cheng had been thought to be dead until now.
The inevitable has happened of Jack finding out Mark’s complicity with the Russians and in retrospect was not surprising that the plan involving Mark and the Russians went awry including Stolnavich dying in the process.
So knew that Audrey’s Chinese friend was going to be shot and killed as it ends this last conventional episode of Live Another Day as the finale is going to cram in the remaining 13 hours of Day 9.

Live Another Day

Day 9: 10PM-11AM:
Finale.
What a shock that Audrey got killed just after Kate saved her from the sniper.
Jack sure showed how angry he is with Audrey’s death by the way he killed off some bad guys leaving Cheng for last and quite unusual that he chose to execute him by decapitation.
Mark is arrested and perhaps it is fortunate that Audrey was not alive to see this.
Now comes the issue of the expected time jump, most of this episode takes place between 10PM and 11PM. The time jump then occurs at 10:50AM, the last ten minutes of the 24 hours.
Given that this is 24 it seems somewhat unbelievable that the intervening 12 hours was relatively uneventful.
Day 9 ends with Jack giving himself up to the Russians in return for Chloe’s freedom and the safety of his family.
Good set-up for the next instalment of 24, if there is one.

There was a 24 reference in Kingsman: The Secret Service.

This occurred when Eggsy (Taron Egerton) was asked by Arthur (Michael Caine) what the former had named his dog and Eggsy says it’s JB.
Arthur had two incorrect guesses of what JB stood for with the first James Bond and then Jason Bourne.
Eggsy then told him the correct answer and it’s Jack Bauer!

In 24, Mike Novick was played by Jude Ciccolella and I just finished The Manchurian Candidate (2004) and like 24, this movie takes place within a US presidential atmosphere.
