Smile Costs of living in POM? Help

Hi, Im looking at a role in Port Moresby which will require my wife & I to relocate from Sydney. I have been looking for various websites trying to find current information with no sucess.

Can anyone with current knowledge assist me in the approx kina of the following items

Milk
Bread
Vegetables
Steak
Toiletries
Soft Drink
Alcohol
Petrol
Dinner out

Anything else that would be relevant to a regular couple


I apprecaite any & all advise that will help in making our decision

Hello Grant,

This price estimate may help you.

Milk: K10.00/Litre
Bread: K6.00/loaf (650gram)
Vegetables: Cabbages (K5/kg), Carrots K7/kg, Broccoli (K20/kg),
Steak: K20.00-K30.00/kg
Toiletries: Bath Soap K2.00, K50/week (all inclusive)
Soft Drink: K2.00/can coke
Alcohol: K5.00/bottle of beer
Petrol: K2.50/Litre
Dinner out: K30 -40/person.

Supply and demand.

There is a shortage of good secure accommodation in Port Moresby. This is not likely to change in the short term either, even with the large number of housing projects currently under way.

K3000 is towards the top end of the market though. You can still get accommodation for around K1500 a week outside of the NCD I believe.
