During its establishment, not much was anticipated from the project until a year later when it was known that over 2000 students have passed on from the program to become employed or even self employed.

The current statistics as according to the Course Coordinator, Clement Neka shows that since 2001 a total of 2079 students have now employed in hotel industries around the country.

“Of this number, 20 are self employed, setting up and running their own guesthouses or lodges in the villages,” Mr Neka said.

Mr Neka is the man behind the success of each student. As an expert in the field of tourism and hospitality Mr Neka has turned to passing on the skills to unemployed youth in Port Moresby.

According to Mr Neka the first batch of students have now gone into full time jobs in the hotel industries around the country, most have landed jobs as receptionist with leading companies and various government departments while others are employed in the mining areas such as Kutubu and etc.

Furthermore, three ladies who were taught these basic courses are now into full swing flight attendants. They operate internationally with Air Niugini flights from Cairns, Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.

Kila Rueben from Hula and Samarai, and Cecilia Kahu from Manus province are two of the flight attendants who operate internationally
