aussie is on a distinguished road
Attn all Yacht Club Visitors and Members

FYI, the following message has been sent from the mangement at the Yatch Club:

Dear Members,

The Royal Papua Yacht Club has received two unsubstantiated reports from two sources, of possible Terrorist attacks against the club. Due to the nature of these threats, we believe it is in your best interest and our responsibility, to advise all members of these reports whether they are fact or fiction.

These threats have been reported to the relevant authorities and investigations have been carried out. To date no information has been collected to support these allegations.

Although this information is unconfirmed, the Royal Papua Yacht Club's Executive Committee and I are treating the matter seriously and additionally, we believe it is a pertinent time to increase our security, due to the general upsurge of violent related crimes in Port Moresby.

The new procedures and policies that will be introduced are purposely designed to impede the traffic of all NON-MEMBERS to the club (ie Visitors, boat employees, suppliers and contractors, etc), and although they will not purposely delay access to our members, there will be stricter policies regarding, members obtaining access for Non Members.

Members are reminded that we are implementing these changes for your own personal safety and we ask if you would like to make some comments about these changes you should direct them to either the Executive Committee or myself. Under no circumstances should you take your frustrations out on our security personnel. Remember they are simply doing as they are told.

Physical changes will be made with security ie new perimeter fencing, changes to the main entrance, panic buttons linked to sirens, lighting etc, as well as procedural changes to entrance requirements for non-members.

Members are also advised that due to these security issues we will be changing this years car stickers, in the very near future. For obvious security reasons we implore you to remove this sticker should you sell your vehicle and return it to reception, before a new sticker is issued. If your car is stolen, we also ask that you inform reception with make, model and registration number.

Members must have their membership keys available for inspection at all times. Random checks on members will be carried out by security. No Key, No car sticker means No access.

If you have any queries, suggestions please do not hesitate to discuss these with anyone from the Executive Committee or myself.

Yours sincerely,

David Wilkinson
General Manager
