With the final episode of the first chapter of Star Trek: Discovery season 1 Into the Forest I Go coming on November 12 2017, the second chapter of the first season will begin on January 7 2018 with Despite Yourself and marks the Discovery directorial debut by TNG alum Jonathan Frakes.

Star Trek: Discovery - 1 x 9 - Into The Forest I Go:
Season 1 Chapter 1 finale.
Thrilling end to the first chapter of season 1.
For the Klingons we previously seen speak with subtitles on-screen it is good to finally see them speak English thanks to the universal translator.
Very good when Michael and Ash got on board the Klingon ship and ultimately rescues Admiral Cornwall.
Interesting plot with the 133 jumps.
Captain Lorca kind of broke the fourth wall when he said the next chapter as this episode is the final episode of the first chapter of season 1 and the next episode Despite Yourself will begin the next chapter.
Very good cliffhanger of Discovery finding where they are instead of their intended destination of Starbase 46.

Star Trek XIV will be directed by Quentin Tarantino and it will be R-rated and it looks like there has been a change of writers with one of the following: Mark L. Smith, Lindsey Beer and Drew Pearce will be chosen to craft the screenplay.

Star Trek Continues

To Boldly Go Part II:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=29L8P1XwnaA

The five year mission as well as Star Trek Continues comes to an end with this the conclusion of To Boldly Go.

A very exciting climax with Lana and Sentex taking over the Kongo and the Enterprise battles against them.

Quite tragic by what happens to Barbara Smith and then Dr McKennah. In retrospect I understand why they were written with this tragedy as neither were seen later on in the timeline of the TOS movies.

The epilogue has Kirk being promoted to admiral upon conclusion of the five year mission and it certainly reflected his sadness of having this promotion to what was shown later on chronologically in the TOS movies.

Star Trek Continues has done TOS justice by finally completing the five year mission.

Star Trek: Hidden Frontier

Entanglement Part 2:
Season 5 opener.
Somewhat bland conclusion to Entanglement.
Interesting having a princess on-board the Independence.
This episode has a resolution to a love triangle which I really had no interest in.

Star Trek: Hidden Frontier

Imminent Danger:
Season 5, Episode 2.
An ambush on a planet left Ensign Barrett wracked with guilt.
Goes through the process of this guilt but ultimately bland in its presentation.
The other plot about a diplomatic conference is only slightly better.

Jon Paul Steuer has committed suicide.

Born on March 27 1984, Steuer became the first actor to play Worf’s son Alexander Rozhenko in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode Reunion.
This was his only appearance as Alexander as the character would be played by different actors in further appearances on TNG and DS9.

Steur died on January 1 2018, almost three months before his 34th birthday.
