Of course with local audio transmission via FM Radio so people can hear the sound on their car radio...

There was also the weekly outdoor movie screening at the 4 mile social club in boroko - everyone used to pack in for that.

My brother and I were banned for an indiscretion for the rest of the year and had to watch the movies through the fence with the non-member audience

Yes, they were the days!
Many Clubs had their Outdoor Picture nights.
Cathay, Aviat, Yachtie (well. open verandah!) and both RSLs.
For a time I ran the pictures at the Aero Club
