Building Star Trek:
Building Star Trek is a documentary celebrating the 50th anniversary of Star Trek.
Broadcast by the Smithsonian Channel in the US on September 4 2016 just four days before the said anniversary.

This documentary charts the rebuilding of the original Enterprise as seen and used in the original Star Trek and being exhibit at the EMP Museum for the said anniversary.

...
Interesting look at the steps that were made for this rebuilding plus looking at the ideas presented by Star Trek and how it is applied in the real world.
However I was disappointed when it came to the idea of the Prime Directive it look at the hypothetical of using the Prime Directive if contact with other worlds comes to pass.
Disappointed because it did not look at the idea of the Prime Directive when it comes to relations between countries of the world that we are living.
The idea of the Prime Directive is that of non-interference with other societies but in the world we are living in it has not uncommon for a country in particular the United States to interfere with the affairs of other countries.
I mean can the Prime Directive worked with other worlds when such an idea of what the Prime Directive represents is often ignored in our own world.

It is not a bad documentary to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Star Trek. It is a pity that it did not come on the exact anniversary date just like The Day of the Doctor got shown on the exact 50th anniversary date of Doctor Who.

Jeri Ryan who had played Seven of Nine in Star Trek: Voyager had a regular role in Bosch season 2.

During the course of the season her character Veronica Allen got arrested for murder and in the season finale Everybody Counts, Veronica got defended by attorney Honey Chandler.

Honey Chandler is played by Mimi Rogers and she had played Maureen Robinson in the Lost In Space movie.

So this is the case of Seven of Nine being defended in a court of law by Maureen Robinson!

Saw The Outer Limits 2.2 Cold Hands, Warm Heart starring William Shatner.
Broadcast on September 26 1964 this came on not long before Shatner was cast as Captain Kirk in Star Trek.
Like Kirk, Shatner plays a space explorer here in a mission called Project Vulcan. Of course in Star Trek he would become familiar with an alien race called Vulcans.
Three other cast members in this Outer Limits episode would also work with Shatner in Star Trek.
They were Malachi Thorne as Commodore Mendez in The Menagerie, Lawrence Montaigne as the Romulan Decius in Balance of Terror & the Vulcan Stonn in Amok Time (which makes his appearance in the Outer Limits episode about Project Vulcan quite prophetic) and James Sikking as Captain Styles in Star Trek III: The Search For Spock.Quite intriguing about the space explorer played by Shatner who after returning to Earth from Venus gets the inverse feeling to the temperature meaning he feels cold when it was hot and feeling heat when it is cold.
Quite glad that there was a happy resolution to this and did not result in a tragedy.

Saw the Seaway episode Bonhomme Richard which guest starred Sally Kellerman and Gary Lockwood.
This episode came out on November 25 1965 and curiously enough would both seen together again in the second Star Trek pilot Where No Man Has Gone Before shown almost a year later on September 22 1966.

Columbo season 6 opener was the first of two appearances in the series by William Shatner and here he plays the murderer.
This episode also featured a brief appearance by Shatner’s TOS co-star Walter Koenig.

The Columbo season 6 finale The Bye Bye I.Q. Case guest starred Theodore Bikel and Samatha Eggar as a married couple.
This episode was shown in 1977 and curiously enough 14 years later in 1991 both Bikel and Eggar appeared in TNG 4.2 Family.
Bikel and Eggar did not have anything to do with each other in this TNG episode but what’s curious about their casting is that Bikel played Worf’s adoptive father and Eggar played Picard’s sister-in-law.
So that would make Picard kind of like a step-uncle to Worf!
