Bang Bang Shoot Chute:
Season 5, Episode 7.
Sherlock and Joan investigates the death of a base jumper who got shot dead whilst doing a jump and discovered that his parachute had been sabotaged.
Not bad case here that ultimately involved situation of how former soldiers had been adjusting to civilian life.
A bit of a worrying situation when Shinwell was seen with a member of his old gang and quite unsettling when Joan went to see him at episode’s end.

How the Sausage Is Made:
Season 5, Episode 8.
While this episode is Elementary 5.8, NuWho’s own 5.8 is The Hungry Earth and the Elementary episode itself has something to do with hunger that of hunger of Earth’s inhabitants we humans as this is a case about an artificial meat industry.
The Elementary episode came on November 27 2016 the day before Karen Gillan’s birthday and she was in the Doctor Who episode as Amy Pond.
Intriguing that this case got triggered by someone dying from poison sausage.
Interesting the artificial meat gets called smeat and the revelation that it only about murder but also about conspiracy to murder in which one person was not involved in the murder itself.
Not bad the other plot of how often Sherlock has been attending recovery meetings.

It Serves You Right To Suffer:
Season 5, Episode 9.
Aidan Quinn who normally plays Captain Gregson makes his series directorial debut with this episode.
In fact according to IMDb this is his only directorial effort to date.
Fascinating case of a dead gang member and that implicates Shinwell.
What a revelation that Shinwell works for the FBI and what a climax when the FBI agent committed suicide whilst talking to Joan on the phone.

Pick Your Poison:
Season 5, Episode 10.
Joan has her DEA number stolen by a fellow doctor for the purpose of peddling drugs.
The imposter was soon found dead along with the mother of a patient.
Quite fascinating what develop from there and the truth of why they were killed.

Be My Guest:
Season 5, Episode 11.
The guest in the episode title is that of an unwilling one.
Whilst wrapping up a murder case, Sherlock stumbles upon Ryan Decker and discovers from Decker’s phone an Asian woman that he holds captive.
Joan soon talks to Decker’s ex-wife Carrie and was unfazed by what Ryan had done and that was certainly became apparent why later on when it was revealed that she was in on it.
Very good case about abduction of Asian women.

Crowned Clown, Downtown Brown:
Season 5, Episode 12.
Not bad the case about the dead clown and how it connects with New York City’s water supply.
Also not bad the other plot of Bell dealing with his new girlfriend’s ex.

Over a Barrel:
Season 5, Episode 13.
Fascinating beginning with the father of an assault victim who ultimately dies from it coming to Sherlock for help on this over periods of time but was denied help each time due to Sherlock and Joan preoccupied with other cases at hand.
In the present day this man forces Sherlock and Joan to take notice when he held a diner hostage and it comes on the day that the statue of limitations on the assault runs out.
Absolutely fascinating how this case unfold and when it initially seems that the statue of limitations had expired the man who committed the assault still gets arrested thanks to him taking a short trip to Canada.

Rekt in Real Life:
Season 5, Episode 14.
Guest stars Christine Taylor and Kathy Najimy.
Enjoyable case about a former professional game player who got murdered during a live video stream.
Also not bad the other plot of Shinwell helping his daughter after she reached out to him for the first time in years.
Unfortunately afterwards the daughter has no interest in beginning any new relations with her father.
Pretty Woman gets referenced here and I watched this episode on November 28 2017 which is coincidentally my wife Karen Gillan’s birthday and she had played the Julia Roberts character in a parody of Pretty Woman 2 (a non-existent sequel) for The Kevin Bishop Show.

Fidelity:
Season 5, Episode 16.
Good conclusion to the previous episode Wrong Side of the Road.
Anson Gephardt makes for a formidable villain with his plan to start a war by leaking video of fake evidence in order provoke said war.
Good ending with the christening of Archie.

Dead Man’s Tale:
Season 5, Episode 18.
The episode title refers to a case that connects with pirates.
Not bad case which culminates with the murderer being shown a clip of Gene Wilder in The Producers in the interview room.
I don’t know if anyone from the cast and crew was aware when they showed that clip of Wilder in The Producers but one of his other movies is The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes’ Smarter Brother in which starred as the said smarter brother Sigerson.
Meanwhile Sherlock and Joan discovered that Shinwell had gotten away with an unsolved murder which makes him a villain of the series.
Thrilling ending to the episode with Shinwell literally kicking Sherlock in the curb.
