Smile Missing Bible Books

Question:I've heard some priests say that there are 5 books missing from the protestant bibles and other say there are 7 books missing. Which number is correct? And why the difference? Thanks. p.s. are these missing books all from the O.T.? Do Protestants and Catholics agree on all the books of the New Testament? thanks again

Answer:There are seven works of the Old Testament which the Protestants rejected, largely in part because there were references to prayers for the dead, which Luther and others rejected. The seven works are 1&2 Maccabees, Tobit, Judith, Sirach, Wisdom, Baruch, and parts of Daniel and Esther) as “deuterocanonical.” This word derives from Sixtus of Siena (16th century) who used the word—literal meaning is second canon—to designate those books of Scripture whose placement in the canon was disputed in an earlier period. Most Protestants refuse to use this designation, for it identifies these works as canonical. Confusion arises over the Protestant use of the word Apocrypha, for this designation commonly refers to works which are non-canonical but are written in a sacred manner, often as imitations of Biblical works or as pseudonymous writings attributed to Biblical figures.
