School trip memories: Ukurumpa and Salamoa

During my time at LIHS I remember two school trips, the first being the sports trip to Ukurumpa High school (Goroka area) and the second, trip to Salamoa (I hope I got it right) to check out the turtles - I think.

On the trip to Ukurumpa I remember someone having a cas-single of footloose and that is pretty much all we heard all the way there and back.

I will try and post some photos, when I get them scanned. my email address is rkaila@hutchison.com.au

Hope to hear from anyone.

Hi RKaila,

i was in yr8. my classmates were Karin Beschel (boarder), Laura Greenland, Ashwini Sukthankar, Mitra Milani, Grace Brown. my brother Ed was was in yr 12. (i really must dig up the year books from the garage & have a look)

i think the best thing was when Mr Upton introduced everyone to floor hockey and the whole underside of the english building was walled off for the games (i think this may have been in late 86 to early 87, then it was discontinued for real hockey...or maybe it was the violence of getting slammed against the wall and the broomsticks we used shattering from the impact )
