Sinebare’s new book “Road to Success” receive accolades at launch, by James Kila

ANOTHER Papua New Guinean has recently been vested into the galaxy of authors who have had their works published. This time from the land of “eternal spring-time” Eastern Highlands comes an academic and former acting vice chancellor of the University of Goroka, Dr Musawe Sinebare with his new book titled Path to Success.

The book published by CBS Publishers of India was launched recently by the Chancellor of the UOG, Sir Ebia Olewale.

Although a mathematician at the University of Goroka, the Dr Sinabare’s new book recounts a series of his own discoveries in his road to success, almost chronicling, how he has moved from applying his cultural virtues in his beloved Mu village in the Sinasina area of Chimbu and the religious values instilled in him by his religiously devout parents of the Evangelical Lutheran Church faith.

Sir Ebia in commenting about the book said Dr Sinebare doesn’t talk much but has more ways and ideas to write a good book. The book was selling at the launch at K27 per copy.

The chancellor also urged other academics of the UOG to follow suit in writing books.

“Your knowledge should not be reserved only for your students. You should convert it to something tangible for the community at large to enjoy, Sir Ebia said.

“Path to Success explains a great deal about human values which people know or used to know but do not practice now to live a good life,” commented the UOG librarian Amarasinghe.

The publisher representative at the launch Ann-Marie Wanamb stated that Dr Sinebare is the eighth Papua New Guinean to have his book published by the CBS Publishers of India. Another renowned PNG author who has had his works published by CBS Publisher is Sir Paulias Matane.

“Path to Success is like a road-map of principles, experiences and situations of our time. It is written in a pleasant style. It uses and presents the pedagogical approach to learning, combining wit and humour sparingly, reflecting the serious trait of the author and the uncanny ability to chip-in and with a humor to emphasize a point or point our an error or truth of an opinion,” stated Mr Bell in his review.

Road to Success is a result of Dr Sinabare’s several speeches and papers produced over the years which received overwhelming commendation upon their presentation.

Three book reviewers, namely pro-vice chancellor Joe Kata, former academic Dr Michael Unage and UOG Council executive officer and journalist Makalai Bell provided indebt critique of the book during the launching.

“I found the book ideal for children, parents, teachers and guardians to utilize. The author is putting down values where a person in the society looks at and take steps to improve himself or herself in life” stated pro-vice chancellor Joseph Kata.

The author used selective phrases and slogans in attributing famous people such as Nelson Mandela, Mother Teresa, late Highlands fire-brand politician Sir Iambakey Okuk and a self trained missionary of the Karkar Island fame Edward Tasharke, popularly known on the island as “Papa Sake”

“It is a very well presented book,” Mr Kata added.

“Endurance is the theme of part one and reflects on the author’s experience then setting out objectives as a child goes through schooling with attributes to achieving success in education, stated Mr Bell.

“Path To Success is ideal for children from childhood to schooling age and adult learning. Dr Sinebare relates to discouragement, ridicule and derogatory remarks to raise awareness of students, teachers, educators, career advisors, counselors and parents to think over and reflect on his strategy on the path to success. Dr Sinebare cites “unless it is by sheer coincidence of luck – success is the culmination of one’s consistent efforts,

“The author Dr Sinebare has an enviable track record in his professional life and social influence as an evangelical Christian and church leader. His book Path to Success captures immediately, those experiences of our time. The influence of our moral setting of a small yet sharp moral anecdotes of sincerity, perseverance, determination and principles and scriptural norms. Those are not normal principles you would find in many intellectual modern PNG people – yet the author relates to them easily because they make a big difference to his life and can in any life,” Bell further stated.

The publisher rep Ms Wanamb also informed at the launch that CBS Publisher is happy to publish another of Dr Sinabare’s works which he is currently working on.
