More Updates from POMCCI..

1. REQUEST FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST, _**_DESIGN & PROJECT
MANAGEMENT

The NRI is in the process of preparing project documentation for infrastructure development to the value of more than K6 million at its Waigani Campus and have sent a letter to the Chamber seeking Expressions of Interest from member companies who have the relevant expertise in pre-architectural project documentation and project management.
The Institute’s management does not have the expertise or the capacity to prepare a more detailed project proposal, hence this request for expressions of interest from firms with the relevant expertise. The services required include a wide range of support services such as advice on architectural designs, quantity surveys on estimates for buildings, associated earthworks and road works, furniture, and so on, and assistance in putting together a strong technical proposal for consideration by the PNG Incentive Fund.

The infrastructure development will consist of the following components:
  • New Office Building to house Researchers;
  • Research Library and IT Centre;
  • Seminar and Conference Facility;
  • Printing and Production Facility;
  • Staff Accommodation; and
  • Visiting Researchers Accommodation.

Expressions of Interest should contain the following documentation for consideration by the National Research Institute’s Tenders Committee.

1. Company profile consisting of the following documents:
  • Names of company principal and staff, together with CV’s
  • Proof of ownership; and
  • Details of experience in similar projects, including details on value of projects, and whether engaged as a main management contractor, or as a subcontractor.

2. Tender Cost:

Input in the initial documentation; and

Management of the project. It is anticipated that the actual construction will be carried out by a building construction company and that the Project Managers will assist in the selection of the company and in the supervision of the construction.

Expressions of Interest are to be lodged in the Tenders Box at the Director’s Office, NR Waigani Campus, Corner Waigani Drive and Goro Kaeaga Road, Waigani by close of business on Friday 25^th June, 2005.

For further information you can contact the Director, Dr. Thomas Webster at NRI on 326 0300 or 326 0061 or call the chamber and a copy of the letter will be faxed onto you.

5.PORT MORESBY - FIRE ENGINES

“As previously announced the insurance industry has come forward with the K25,000 we needed to purchase two reconditioned fire and rescue tenders from the Queensland Emergency Services.

The task now is to secure the additional K25,000 we need to freight the fire engines from Brisbane. The Chamber has agreed to contribute K5,000 to this next phase of the operation. We are also delighted to announce that Kieran Nash at Kenmore Group has come forward with another K5,000. We are seeking further funds. All donations will be approximately acknowledged and donors will be part of the publicity at the handover of the tenders to the Fire Service.

Can you help?
