OroHaven Kokoda Bush Retreat

Location: Kokoda, Oro Province, a short 25 minute flight from Port Moresby
Accommodation: Traditional huts that can sleep up to 15 people dormitory style. We have several huts and can accommodate over 100 tourists at anyone time. Or, pay extra and have a hut all to yourself.
Shower: Outdoor shower under the stars
Toilet: Flushing outdoor toilet
Meals: prepared by our Filipino Chef who was based in Port Moresby and was previously employed by Daikoku Restaurant specialising in Japanese cuisine.

Things to do:

• Relax, read a book or two away from your day to day life
• Enjoy PNG time and leave your mobile at home.
• Wake up to the sounds of the bush
• Prepare yourself for a short trek up to Isurava Memorial and back. Depending on fitness levels allow at least one day up to Isurava and one day back down. If not so fit, still achievable but allow four days to cover the same amount of distance. If not enough, simply you are not on a 9 day trek, simply stop and turn back to base.
• Take a swim in one of the creeks close to Orohaven
• Tourists may like to take a PMV (Public Motor Vehicle) drive down to Popondetta. At the time of writing the Kumusi Bridge crossing has still not been re-opened so it would mean a tyre tube crossing with local support staff.
• If you have children they can help feed our animals such as chickens; ducks; PNG Cus Cus and a deer.
• Walk up to the Kokoda Station and visit the War Museum; Kokoda Hospital; and say hi to the locals who live there.
• Experience how to make a traditional mumu, a local dish where food is cooked in the ground using hot stones
• Sample a cold SP beer whilst eating a home cooked pizza
• Big Screen movie available on request
• Are you holding a convention and want to get out of town where there are no disturbances?
• Great Team Building Exercise. Our guides and porters can accompany your staff for safety and guidance on a walk up to Isurava Memorial return
