Hi there ..
It would be great to view a few old locations .. maybe pics of Voco Point area ... Ampo .. Wau .. etc ... I was born at yagaum (near Madang) .. my parents were with the Lutheran Mission at "AMPO" .. and Dad also worked for NAMASU at Lae as the skipper of the Salankaua .. Having departed NG in '64, I have not been fortunate enough to return for a visit ... and often wonder how it looks. Any mail to me will definitely be responded to .. sincerely Jonathan Jaeschke |

I was born in Port Moresby in 1963. My family left in 1973. I am homesick to return but I have heard so many scary stories about the way things are now and precautions one has to take. I find this sad. PNG needs to work on its global image. I know that a few disgruntled people can ruin for everyone else. The local people I grew up with in Kikori on the Sepik, and then in Kabiufa outside Goroka, were the gentlest and most lovable people I have known in my life.
I have really enjoyed this website and the pictures which have been posted. Thanks.

Warwick- I think the guy with surname Doyle was at the Institute. I used to spend weekdns out in the bush areound there trying to find war wreckage- being constantly busted by the officers at Igam Barrakes (I think Col Walters used to be good mates with Dad). Cheers, Chris Durman

Madang, Lae & Lutheran connection
Hi Jonathan. Don't give up looking for old connections. I lived in Lae & Madang 1954-1959, attended the primary schools & the Lutheran churches Lae & Madang. My cousin Deb was born at Yagaum Hosp in 1958. I was in Columbus, Ohio 1979/80 & a friend was interviewing someone who said he grew up in NG. The friend wondered if we knew each other & put him on the phone - it eventuated his Dad was Lutheran stores officer in Madang when I was there (1958/9). I can't remember name but hope I have it written somewhere in notes. There is an amazing array of photos throughout this website already. Cheryl (Davey) Pearce
