Thriller (Boris Karloff)

The Twisted Image:
The series opener of the anthology series hosted by Boris Karloff.
The Twisted Image stars Leslie Nielsen.
Nielsen plays a married business man who tries to shake the affection to him by a younger woman while a man working in his company who is envious of the business man leading him to become unhinged.
Very good how these two threads clashed together and leading to the climax at the end.

The Mark of the Hand:
Season 1, Episode 4.
A little girl shoots and kills a man.
However the investigation that follows is not as clear-cut as it seems.
Certainly an enthralling revelation of why this man was killed and how it was done to flush this information out.

The Guilty Men:
Season 1, Episode 6.
Fascinating episode of three childhood friends who grew up to become part of the criminal underworld.
Interesting on the dilemma with this world and culminating with how this episode ended.

The Purple Room:
Season 1, Episode 7.
Interesting episode in which a man has a stayed in the house of his brother for one night in order to get his inheritance but things sure took a scary turn along the way culminating in a shooting.

The Watcher:
Season 1, Episode 8.
Featuring Richard Chamberlain.
Found this one to be dull about serial murderer who was very unimpressive in pursuing his target.

Girl with a Secret:
Season 1, Episode 9.
Enthralling episode in which a woman has to keep her husband’s secret while he is away.
Admirable efforts she went through in keeping this secret including bribing a maid all of which led to the denouement which got resolved in quite an unexpected way.

The Prediction:
Season 1, Episode 10.
As well as doing the usual introduction, Boris Karloff plays the lead character in this episode who plays a fake mentalist who suddenly had visions of future events.
Fascinating episode that Karloff takes on in his acting capacity but tragic by what happens at the end.

The Big Blackout:
Season 1, Episode 12.
Intriguing story about a man trying to recover lost memories after another man was killed apparently due to mistaken identity with the first said man.
Pretty good as pieces fell into place as it leads to the denouement.

Incidentally Blackout is also the name of a Doctor Who audio story featuring Amy and Amy was played in the Doctor Who TV series by my wife Karen Gillan.

Late Date:
Season 1, Episode 27.
The cast includes Ed Platt who of course later became The Chief in Get Smart.
Platt in Late Date plays James Weeks and at one point he mentioned that he has a friend called Fred Clark.
Curiously enough in Get Smart, Platt as the Chief had the cover name of Harold Clark!
In Late Date, James strangled his cheating wife and it was left to his loyal brother Larry to get rid of her body.
Intriguing what Larry goes through to dispose of the body by putting it in the boot in the car of her lover thereby framing him.

Yours Truly, Jack the Ripper:
Season 1, Episode 28.
Directed by Ray Milland.
Starring John Williams as Scotland Yard psychologist Sir Guy who is an expert on Jack the Ripper and theorises that in contemporary times of the 1960s that not only is the Ripper still alive but hasn’t aged since he began his killings.
Fascinating episode this hunt for the Ripper.
Sad tragedy on a principal female character with a picture became a sad prescient to it.
Shocking when the Ripper’s identity was revealed just as the episode ended and he revealed it to Sir Guy.
