Life for a family in port moresby

Please help me!! im after advice, experiences, information on living in port moresby. My partner has gone for a job over there (which he has pretty much got) and wants us to move over there. I am a 27 year old mother of 1 boy who is 22 months who would also be coming and I am also pregnant with number 2.

What would live be like for our family? With my partner working for most of the day - is it safe for me to take my son to the shops by myself etc? What is the medical system like over there?

For all those Australians that live over there...please tell me your experiences and if you would do it again.

Please Anyone! Any thoughts, Any information would be greatley appreciated!

hey there..

what work does your husband have?

have your baby somewhere else...as for living there...it's bliss. i'm a filipino but i grew up in papua new guinea. your family will end up bonding because of the 'crime' rate over there. because basically when it comes to your kids, it's pick up and drop off kind of situation. take your dog with you but keep your dog in your compound.

don't be afraid of living there!!! you'll enjoy it.

if my partner takes the job we will be moving there probably november. I will be flying back to Australia to have the baby.

What concerns me is coming from Australia i have so much freedom here. I can just pack up my 2 year old and walk to the park or drive down the street or from town to town. Up there im under the impression ill be stuck at home unless i have someone to accompany me down the street etc.

I was wondering if there is an ex-pats with kids play group type thing where wifes and kids get to meet up and play...anything information on anything like that would be appreciated!
