SP joins push for coffee/agriculture development

PNG Coffee Festival & Trade Fair Update

South Pacific Brewery has become the latest sponsor of the PNG Coffee Festival & Trade Fair.

Regional Manager, Denis Reynolds, has given cash contribution of K1500 towards the staging of the event, as well as two tents and the use of SP’s Public Announcement system.

Festival organiser, Norman Carver, thanked Mr Reynolds and said the contribution would go a long way towards making the event a success. Mr Carver said SP would be allocated an outdoor stall at the Raun Raun Theatre to promote its Social Alcohol Model.

South Pacific Brewery now becomes a Silver Sponsor of the May 2 and 3 PNG Coffee Festival & Trade Fair.

Companies and organisations taking part in the PNG Coffee Festival & Trade Fair in Goroka on May 2 and 3 will also be given time to do a presentation about their activities and products. Please confirm your presentation as soon as possible so that you will be included in the programme.

With only one week to go, over 74 companies and organizations have been confirmed to participate, in by way of exhibits or sponsorship - with more expected to confirm their participation and sponsorship this week onwards.

Push for School Excursions: Organiser, Norman Carver, has encouraged school students in and around Goroka to attend. “We have invited school excursions from all major schools in Goroka area,” he said. “ Any student involved in a formal school excursion will enter the gates free of charge. “We will also provide transport, as this is a problem for some schools. The response has been good with several schools already confirmed to attend with excursions to the event.” Those confirmed are Goroka International, West Goroka Community, Gimitoka Primary, North Goroka Primary, Faniufa Primary, Goroka Secondary High, East Goroka Primary, Goroka Christian Acedemy, Goroka Business College, Kama SDA School, Gama Primary,

Singsing groups and entertainment: Central, Trobriand, Momase, Tari, Rainforest Bilas, Simbu Karem Lek, Manus.

Helicopter Joy Ride: Pacific Helicopters have also confirmed that they will be raffling a helicopter ride around Goroka town, with raffle tickets to sell at K2 each.

Art Exhibition: Another quality aspect of the Coffee Festival will be an art exhibition, which will run one week before and one week after the main event. The displays will be located in part at the Coffee Festival venue; with the full exhibition located at the JK McCarthy Museum.
