Application for Registration or Renewal of Registration of Motor Vehicle

In most cases you will have on you the previous years registration papers and Motor Vehicle Insurance Trust (MVIT) forms.

If so, please make sure you have a current 'Safety Sticker', before heading out to the Motor Traffic Registry Office.

If you have lost or misplaced your registration papers, you will need to download this form, complete and present to the Motor Traffic Registry office.

In the case of theft, you will also need to complete a 'Statutory Declaration' form and have it signed by a Justice of the Peace.

Motor Registry Price List:

Download this form and if you are like myself, stick on your wall for a quick reference guide, especially if you are controlling a large fleet of vehicles.

Unless you are a large company and have previously requested approval to write a cheque, the Motor Traffic Registry Office will not accept 'personal cheques'.

Therefore, you will have to know in advance exactly the amount you require for the renewal of registration, because you will be required to carry cash on you to cover the payment.

Motor Vehicle Insurance Trust Form (MVIT)

1 Attachment(s)
Motor Vehicle Insurance Trust - Effective from Tuesday, 1st January, 2002:

Third party only - excludes accidental damage to your own vehicle but covers legal liability for damage to third party property.

I suggest you also download and print off this listing and place on your wall for a quick reference guide, like above, if you have a large fleet of vehicles to maintain.

Prices have increased recently and simply allowing for the amount you paid this time last year will not work, and you could as a result not have allowed enough to cover the renewal - hence requiring a second trip to the Motor Registry Office.

If you are new to Papua New Guinea, the Motor Vehicle Insurance Trust office is also in the same building as the Motor Traffic Registry Office.

You will have to proceed to one counter to register your vehicle and then move to the Motor Vehicle Insurance Trust counter to renew your third party insurance.

Then back to the main counter in order to complete the process and collect your windscreen sticker.
