Bismarck Baramundi considers prawn farming

Bismarck Barramundi, a Madang-based firm is currently eyeing the possibility of establishing pond-based prawn farming in the province. According to National Fisheries Authority, this was part of an ambitious plan launched by the company. Established in 2001 by Ian Middleton, Bismarck Barramundi has been culturing barramundi in open sea cages. The company currently exports approximately 1,000 kilos of filtered barramundi every quarter. Mr Middleton said the barramundi sales brought better returns on the domestic market.[Read more inside]
