View Thread : Looking for Chris Managa, Tau (Patrick) Gau, Joseph Kosi, Anthony Kolau

I'm trying to get in contact with Chris Managa, Tau (Patrick) Gau, Joseph Kosi and Anthony Kolau.

All four survived the crash of a Royal Australian Air Force Caribou in the Kudgeru Gap on Aug 28, 1972. They would all be around 52 years of age now.

Chris Managa and Anthony Kolau were both originally from Rigo, and I underststand that Chris is now with the PNG Defence Forces, Patrick Gau was from Porebada and Joseph Kosi was from Konedubu.

I was one of the pilots on the helicopter that rescued Chris Managa and Nicholas Fabila, (who later died of his injuries) a few days after the crash.

If anyone knows the whereabouts of any of these gentlemen, would you ask them if they'd be willing to get in contact with me? I can be reached at candky@gmail.com or by post: Chris Young, PO Box 53107, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

I didn't mention that they were all students at De La Salle College, port Moresby.

Hey, you know these fellows from the cadets?...Funny I was living in Tatana at the time, and in the PNGVR...I was in one of the platoons (Mortar pl, PNGVR) moved OFF that aircraft, to go on to POM in a HERCULES. I have had freakish luck like that most my life. Robert Clive (TEX) Jackway Koomans. Inala, Brisbane.

rkoomans, you were indeed very lucky not to have been on the Caribou that day. I was on the RAAF helicopter that picked Chris from the Kopera River and later, the boy who was left at the wreck site.

I’m writing an account of the search and rescue and would like to get in touch with any of the four survivors to get their input.
