PAPUA New Guinea and Australia meet again this year for the 21st Australia-Papua New Guinea Business Forum in Cairns.

Themed “Building Business Opportunities and Economic Growth”, the three-day forum is expected to strengthen business ties between the two countries.

The forum is an annual business conference between PNG and Australia with the first held in 1981 and originally referred to as the Australia Papua New Guinea Council annual joint meeting.

The forum kicked off on Sunday with a game of golf at the Palm Cove Golf Club and will finishes today.

Organisers of the forum said this is an annual bilateral business meeting which calls for opportunity to learn about business opportunities between PNG and to establish contacts with policy makers and senior bureaucrats between the two countries.

Forum program covers, an overview of the political and economic climate, specifically on issues which affect business and investment plus specific session by expert presenters on doing business in PNG and on industry sectors such as agriculture, mining and resources, infrastructure development, tourism and manufacturing.

By today businesses in both countries will have reached an improved understanding of opportunity for further developing bilateral business and investment relationship.
