Sunbird Aviation has been formed to assist in the provision of services to these remote areas, rarely serviced by Airlines PNG and other operators. Captains, Michael Butler and John Thomas both former APNG pilots, with 50 years Papua New Guinea flying experience between them, are at the helm of the new company and hope to fill a void in aviation services into these remote areas.
